Witney Vikings

Posted by lou eamens on November 28, 2007, 6:04 pm

IT WAS A BITTER SATURDAY MORNING AND ALL THE TEAM AND SUPPORTERS TURNED OUT DEPSITE FROST BITE BEING ON THE CARDS! THE TEAMS WERE EVENLY MATCH AND SOME GOOD PASSING BETWEEN LUCY, MEGAN AND TASH, GAVE US GOOD ENTERTAINMENT. THE GIRLS WERE A LITTLE SLOW IN THE FIRST HALF, BUT UNDERSTANDING THE WEATHER CONDITIONS THE GIRLS PLAYED WELL. WITNEY VIKINGS SCORED A "CHEEKY" GOAL JUST BEFORE THE END OF THE FIRST HALF. DURING THE SECOND HALF THE GIRLS WERE FOCUSED AND HUNGRY TO GET THE EQUALIZER. THE GIRLS KEPT BATTLING , AND WE HAD SOME GOOD TRIES FROM BOTH TASHA AND CHELSEA, BUT TO NO AVAIL. LAURA IN GOAL KEPT THE BALL OUT OF THE NET SO WITNEY VIKINGS LEFT WITH ONLY A ONE GOAL ADVANTAGE WITH A SECOND LEG TO PLAY. WELL DONE TO THE GIRLS YOU HAVE IMPORVED SO MUCH ALREADY THIS SEASON. THANK YOU TO DOUG FOR ACTING AS REF, AND A BIG THEANK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO SUE, AND PETE, AND THE PARENTS FOR ALL THIER FAITH AND SUPPORT FOR THE GIRLS.....WELL DONE......

Oxford Irish

The weather on saturday was with us, for our first home match of the season. The girls have been training hard with our new coach Pete through out the summer.

The first half was really thrilling with alot of chances at goal for the city girls.

We were 0-0 at half time with the players in good spirits. We opened the goal scoring with a senstaional shot put in the net by Tasha with brilliant support from both Sian and Megan. Oxford Irish then scored 2 in quick succession. With spirits still high the girls battled on and we had some good shots at goal once again.

With 15 min left Oxford Irish went 3-1 ahead, but the girls fought back and Tasha scored another goal with 7 mins left of the game.

The final score was 3-2 to Oxford Irish, but the game was very evenly matched.

The Whole team should be proud of what they have acheived and the team should go on from strength to strength throughout the season. The team would like to thank both Sue and Pete, for having faith and supporting the girls in their first season.

A big thank you also to all the parents who were there to support the team on saturday,THANK YOU.
